Star Wars: Enemy of the Republic - Light Side
Aged Jedi Master
Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi was once known across the galaxy as a hero and a veteran of the Clone Wars. Now, he seems to be a tired old man with nothing left but regret.
During the Clone Wars, he regularly traveled with his former Padawan Anakin Skywalker, who was secretly married to Padme Amidala. When Obi-Wan learned of the marriage, he initially objected but eventually agreed to keep the couple’s secret when Anakin compared he and Padme to Obi-Wan and Siri Tachi, Obi-Wan’s long-lost love.
As the Clone Wars progressed, the trio became fast friends and allies. As the strain of the Clone Wars began to take it’s toll on Anakin, he began to pull away from Padme more and more. Unsure what to do and afraid to lose her husband, Padme turned to Obi-Wan for comfort. As Anakin became more distant and brooding, Obi-Wan and Padme eventually began to have an affair.
As the Clone Wars drew to an end, Padme found herself pregnant. Initially concerned that the child was Obi-Wan’s, she hid the truth from Anakin until she could be certain. Once she knew for sure that Anakin was the father, she finally told him and made plans to deliver her child on Naboo. As the war drew to a close, Anakin somehow discovered that she and Obi-Wan had been having an affair. Shell-shocked and weary from the internal politics of the Jedi Council, he blamed Obi-Wan and the Jedi Order itself for this betrayal and swore himself to Darth Sidious as his newest apprentice, taking the name Darth Vader. Confronting Padme on Mustafar, he nearly killed her with the Force before Obi-Wan intervened, and the two dueled across the firey world until at last Anakin was struck down on the shores of a molten river. In that final moment, Obi-Wan was simply unable to bring himself to kill his former friend and student, as he saw how he himself was as much to blame as any other for this outcome. He left Anakin to his fate, and took Padme to safety.
While Padme did in fact die in childbirth as foreseen, what was not expected was that she was carrying twins. One of the children was given to Senator Bail Organa and his wife, and the other was taken to Tattooine to be with Anakin’s remaining relatives. Obi-wan went into hiding on Tatooine, watching over the son of his former student while avoiding the terrors of the Jedi Purge. Unfortunately, despite Obi-wan’s diligence in protecting him from other threats, he could not have predicted that Luke would be murdered by Sand People before he grew to be a man.
At this point in his life, Obi-Wan feels that there is only one thing he can do to redeem himself for the mistakes of his past – he must confront and destroy his former friend and apprentice, the Sith Lord Darth Vader. He is not certain he will survive the battle, but he is no longer concerned with his own life, only trying to save those that have been affected by his actions.
